For about five years now, I have lived what I would call a very healthy lifestyle. I don’t love to use the word healthy, because I think it’s a very relative term. My perception of a healthy diet or lifestyle could be completely different than yours. Even so, it’s the best way I can think of to describe how I choose to live and eat.

When I joined my middle school’s cross-country team in 8th grade, I was forced to wake up at 7 AM to get to summer practices on time. Unsurprisingly, this is when my hatred for exercising early in the morning began to develop.

During these morning practices, I always felt tired and half asleep. On top of that, my stomach hurt no matter what I ate. As a result, I didn’t look forward to my runs. I knew I had to get through them to experience the fun part — racing, but I also wished I didn’t feel this way.
