The problem is, when you focus only on aesthetic goals, you often miss out on the bigger picture. Restrictive diets, fancy weight loss products, and using exercise as punishment are common traps that people fall into when trying to lose weight, and they are not healthy or sustainable methods.

When I…

A few months ago, around the end of November, I started to see a slight dip in my overall productivity.

It was hardly noticeable at first, but as we got deeper and deeper into the cold, dreary winter months, I felt my typical morning motivation begin to slip away more and more.

So, I did what I always do when I hit a wall or an unshakeable slump. I assessed the situation, pinpointed the problem, developed a solution, and put it into action. In this case, I realized that my morning routine needed a refresh.

Now, this isn’t to say…

How to make oatmeal the right way.

When I was a child, I sat down at the table before school each morning awaiting my breakfast. I enjoyed foods like crunchy sugar cereal, a fluffy stack of blueberry pancakes with maple syrup, or peanut butter banana toast.

Meanwhile, my parents would eat things like avocado toast, grapefruit, or a brown bowl of mush that looked like the most unappetizing dish on the planet. Of course, that brown bowl of mush would later become one of my favorite breakfast foods.

Up until I was about 15 years old, I never understood how anyone could enjoy a tasteless bowl of…

Science says these are three of the best.

The topics of health and fitness are simple to understand on the surface level. When you eat well and exercise regularly, you get stronger, fitter, and healthier. At least, that is what is supposed to happen.

The truth is, there are a whole slew of factors that affect your overall health. Some of these include your diet, lifestyle, intensity and duration of exercise, sleep, stress, etc.

When you look beyond the surface, many aspects of your life can affect your overall health and how you feel on a daily basis.

Even so, there is no denying that diet is one…

With television advertisements, magazines, and social media influencers raving about that one food or beverage that will help you “drop x pounds in 10 days”, it can be easy to compare your own fitness progress and dietary choices to others. However, looks can be deceiving.

These “results” are usually very misleading, and they don’t tell the full story. They can make you feel extremely discouraged about where you are at in your own health and fitness journey, so you might feel pressured to adopt someone else’s eating habits and fitness routine.

Here is the truth — there is no single…

No, it’s not 5 AM.

When I joined my middle school’s cross-country team in 8th grade, I was forced to wake up at 7 AM to get to summer practices on time. Unsurprisingly, this is when my hatred for exercising early in the morning began to develop.

During these morning practices, I always felt tired and half asleep. On top of that, my stomach hurt no matter what I ate. As a result, I didn’t look forward to my runs. I knew I had to get through them to experience the fun part — racing, but I also wished I didn’t feel this way.

Don’t make these critical mistakes.

We have all bumped into someone at some point in our lives who always wants to be the center of attention, but never wants to give anyone else a chance to speak their thoughts.

Listening is a seemingly easy task. In the midst of a conversation, you simply stay engaged, attentive, and hear what the other person has to say. In practice, however, it isn’t so easy.

I have always been a quiet, shy individual. I never liked being up in front of a crowd. When I had to give speeches in high school, I was terrified. …

Add them to your diet for a big boost.

Every single person in the world gets older with each passing day. There is no escaping aging.

However, contrary to many people’s beliefs, aging is not something that should be seen as a negative. Instead, it should be celebrated, because longevity is a luxury that not everyone is afforded.

As you age, you get to experience more of the world. Each year that passes by marks more time spent exploring the world and more happy memories made with those you love. In order to live life to the fullest each and every day, you have to keep yourself healthy. …

I have been eating oatmeal for quite some time. Oatmeal began as my go-to meal on cross-country race days in high school, but it did not become one of my breakfast staples until years later.

This is because I usually opted for something like sugar cereal for breakfast in high school. It tasted delicious, and I felt good for an hour or two. Then, I would experience that dreadful crash and exhaustion that comes with filling up on sugar for breakfast every day.

When I went off to college, I finally decided to make a change. Oatmeal became my go-to…
